  • Buffing / Sanding

    Sanding an existing wood floor usually consists of approximately 2-3 passes with a buffing/sanding machine. Sanding is done on a new install to prepare the floor for several coats of finish or a stain, or it is done to resurface and restore an existing wood floor.

  • Consultation / Estimate

    Not sure what to do? We can help guide you to the right decision. Have kids and dogs? Not sure whether it's worth it to upgrade to a more expensive or exotic wood?   • Maintenance / Repairs

    When we refinish your floors, we can handle a wide range of repairs, from light flooding/plumbing leak damage to fill-ins, stair replacements, covering old vent holes, and a variety of oddball stuff that typically pops up in older homes.

  • Refinishing

    We can bring your old floors back to life, as well as finish an installation of unfinished solid hardwood. The refinishing process typically takes 3 - 6 days, depending on job specific characteristics and whether oil-based or water-based polyurethane is used.

  • Staining

    Stains come in a variety of shades. They are designed to penetrate and seal the wood, while adding luxurious color. A coat of stain and three coats of finish (water, oil, etc.) is needed to complete a stain finishing job. A natural finish takes three coats of polyurethane with no stain coat.

  • The Wood Floor Refinishing Process

    Generally, finishing a hardwood floor takes two to three coats applied over a period of two to three days; however, if humidity levels are high, it could take an additional day to complete the process.

    After the floors are sanded/buffed and cleaned, we apply the first coat of either stain or polyurethane (depending upon the desired finish). We allow the first coat to dry and then apply the second.
